WEE WAA
Wee Waa is encounted when traveling
the Walgett/ Narrabri Hgy. Or is an 80k round trip diversion to visit
if travelling the north south Newell Hgy. Wee Waa is without doubt an
interesting place name. The reason for the town name or the town
inception is at this point not known.  
Wee Waa is the
oldest established town in the area and is the birthplace of the
commercial cotton industry in Australia. It claims the title "Cotton
Capital of Australia".
Wee Waa is actually a nice
tidy town and has attributes going for it.
The town is
within Narrabri Shire local government area and is on the Namoi River.
To protect it from floods, the entire town is protected by a levee
bank.
It was the Wee
Waa police station the notorious event that Eddie Murray was killed in
1981. Eddie was one of the Aboriginal deaths in custody that prompted
a Royal Commission to be set up to investigate them It was also the
first town to use DNA testing to find a rapist.
The Wee Waa
Museum is a stand out from a Museum perspective. When visiting Wee Waa
be sure to allow time to get the insight into the heritage. There some
really beaut exhibits at this museum.    
The Gardens in
Wee Waa are a nice surprise.  
The Wee Waa War
Memorial is a central cbd/clock acknowledgement. 
The clock is well presented.
There are two
pubs in Wee Waa.
The Wee Waa
is
a really great traditional NSW hotel.
The Catholic
Church has a great presence in the cbd .
A nice church.
The Presbyterian
and Anglican modern.

are important historic aspect and feature off Wee Waa.
A visit to the
museum,
take in the garden and the Australia Telescope option determine a
visit to Wee Waa is recommended.
